Description

This module examines the political economy of social policy. It explores different ideas about the relationship between the state and citizens and will consider different views about the roles of state, market and civil society in meeting citizens¿ needs. The analysis will be deepened by detailed consideration of two specific areas of social policy. The overall aim is to equip students with the knowledge and skills to critically analyse different social policy regimes, measures and approaches. While it will focus largely on examples from the UK, social policy in other societal contexts will be considered.
